Access-Ability, Making Psychology Accessible for All
Over 90 years ago, The Pennsylvania Psychological Association's origins were in assessing individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. 90 years later, this population and those with physical disabilities are significantly underserved when it comes to receiving needed psychological services. While an admirable goal for the field is in becoming more accessible, accessing the abilities of all is one of the major purposes of psychology. In keeping with PPA's themes of equity and inclusion, over the past few years, the focus of this convention will be about addressing the full spectrum of human abilities: from providing services to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, to providing therapy to athletes and other high performers trying to cope with mental illness. The objective is to assist psychologists and other behavioral health professionals in further developing the skills needed to benefit people seeking services, trainees, and the greater community. This theme of making psychology accessible for all seeks to enhance services and reduce health inequities and other disparities in the field. By registering for this event, attendees are agreeing to PPA's COVID-19 Event Waiver. Click here to view the waiver.
