Program Description: People of color have experienced oppression throughout their lifetime. Psychologists should possess an understanding of the historical and political impact of racism and classism on psychotherapy. Using a culturally humble stance, the facilitator defines racial trauma, explores its impact, and provides a race-informed therapeutic framework to address concerns in psychotherapy.

Program Objectives:
1. Describe the historical and political underpinnings of racism and classism in the United States;
2. Describe the concept of racial trauma;
3. Describe at least four ways that racial trauma impacts individuals and communities; and
4. Describe the race-informed framework for assessing and treating racial trauma in psychotherapy.

Program Description: White privilege is the unearned, unasked for often invisible benefits not available to oppressed groups. The goal of the current webinar is to explore the intersection of oppression and privilege with a focus on the role these dynamics play in the current sociopolitical climate. Using the framework of courageous conversations, the facilitator will provide techniques to assist participants with engaging in difficult dialogue.

Program Objectives:

1. Define the intersection of systemic racism and implicit bias;
2. Describe the impact of systemic racism and implicit bias on therapeutic interactions;
3. Describe at least four ways to engage in culturally informed therapeutic practices; and
4. Using a case example, describe how to implement a race-informed therapeutic framework.
