Identify Your Niche: How to Find Clients and Setting That's Right for You

This workshop will begin with a panel discussion highlighting various settings in which early career psychologists practice psychology. Panelists will give an overview of the setting in which they work (hospital, academic, forensic, private practice, integrated care, i/o psychology, and school psychology) after which, participants will break into small groups according to their practice interest and have a small discussion with the panelists. This workshop will be highly participatory.

Practical Consideration for ECPs Starting Their Career in Psychology

There are several practical questions that psychologists need to consider when starting their careers, such as: should I start my own practice or be part of the group, what business structure should I use, what forms do I need, do I accept insurance, how do I develop my presence on the internet (website, blogs), how do I market my practice, and how do I build referral systems in my community (how to promote yourself)? This workshop will aim to address some of these concerns and provide participants with useful handouts on how to begin addressing these concerns.
