Workshop Summary: State and federal laws concerning confidentiality can be complex at times. This workshop will review state and federal laws concerning confidentiality and discuss when psychologists can ethically break a patient’s confidentiality. There will be opportunities for participant interaction.
Program Learning Objectives: At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:
Describe Pennsylvania laws dealing with confidentiality
Describe when it is appropriate to break a patient’s confidentiality; and
Describe how to effectively break confidentiality with minimal risk of harm to the patient
