Thursday, October 23, 2025W01 - Telehealth and Interjurisdictional Practice: Ethics and Risk Management 8:00 - 11:00 AM Presenter: Molly Cowan, PsyD Program Description: Many psychologists incorporate telehealth into their daily work, and now more than ever, clinicians face scenarios where their patients are located outside the jurisdictions in which they are licensed. This workshop will focus on strategies for practicing telehealth ethically, legally, and in a patient's best interest clinically. There will be a focus on the pros and cons of PSYPACT as an option for interjurisdictional practice, as well as alternatives for providing services via telehealth in other jurisdictions, both nationally and internationally. Program Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able too... 1. Discuss the ethical and legal implications of practicing in other jurisdictions. 2. Describe the process of appropriate practice under PSYPACT. 3. Identify strategies for providing good clinical care using telehealth. W02 - Recognizing and Reporting Suspected Child Abuse in Pennsylvania 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM Presenters: Rachael Baturin, MPH, JD; Molly Cowan, PsyD Program Description: In 2013 and 2014 Pennsylvania enacted numerous changes to the Child Protective Services Law. The purpose of this program is to review the signs leading to the recognition of child abuse and the reporting requirements for suspected child abuse in Pennsylvania. Those mandated reporters who complete this course will fulfill their mandatory requirements for licensing renewal. This workshop describe the child welfare services in Pennsylvania, defines important terms related to the child abuse reporting law, and delineates the responsibilities of mandated reporters, ways to recognize child abuse, and other topics. Program Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able too... 1. Explain the definition/categories of child abuse as outlines in the PA Child Protective Services Law (CPSL). 2. List the common indicators of suspected child abuse. 3. Describe the roles and responsibilities for persons required to report suspected child abuse (mandated reporters). 4. Apply the requirements and procedures for reporting suspected child abuse. 5. Describe the penalties for mandated reporters who willfully fail to report suspected child abuse. W03 - An Introduction to the role of Parenting Coordination 2:00 - 3:00 PM Presenters: Steven R. Cohen, PhD; Lise A. Fisher, JD; Emily Vaner, JD, LPC Program Description: A presentation about the role of Parenting Coordination, the positive impact of the Parenting Coordinator, and how to qualify to become a Parenting Coordinator. List the benefits of Parenting Coordination to the child, the parents, and the court. 3. Explain how to qualify to be a Parenting Coordinator. W04 - Midlife Eating Disorders 3:30 - 6:30 PM Presenters: Heidi Dalzell, PsyD; Betsy Brenner Program Description: Despite shifts that acknowledge the diversity of eating disorders, treatment at midlife is less common than at earlier ages. Understanding the challenges at midlife helps support effective and compassionate treatment. This workshop will include the personal recovery story of Betsy Brenner, whose memoir has inspired many to seek treatment. Discuss common stressors associated with midlife and how these connect to midlife eating concerns. 2. List the common midlife eating disorder presentations. 3. Describe an approach to treating midlife eating disorders. Friday, October 24, 2025W05 - The Power of Words: Encouraging Critical Conversations in Learning and Healing Spaces 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Presenter: Erika Dawkins, PsyD Program Description: This workshop is designed to help pracitioners and educators with practical techniques to build capacity to have challenging but necessary conversations in classrooms and therapy rooms. Program Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to... 1. Describe critical conversations and their importance to progress in learning and therapeutic environments. 2. Discuss three strategies per environment that can be used to move conversations forward with clients and students. 3. Use one of the strategies in role plays with other program participants. W06 - The Safety Planning Intervention: It's more than just filling out the form 1:00 - 4:00 PM Presenter: Kelly Green, PhD Program Description: This workshop will provide an overview of the Stanley-Brown Safety Planning Intervention (SPI). The SPI is an evidence-based, collaborative intervention that helps patient decrease their suicide risk by consulting and using a pre-determined set of strategies and resources during a suicidal crisis. Program Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to... 1. Describe the rationale of the Safety Planning Intervention. 2. Describe the evidence supporting the Safety Planning Intervention. 3. Describe how to collaboratively develop an individualized safety plan.

Cancellation Policy
All workshop registration cancellation requests must be made in writing to Justin Danner, Business Manager (justin@papsy.org) - no phone cancellations will be accepted. Cancellation requests made more than 72 hours before the workshop will result in a 50% refund of the registration fee. PPA cannot postpone registrations and/or transfer fees to future events. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the workshop and no shows for the Fall 2024 Virtual Continuing Education Conference will result in forfeiture of the entire registration fee. PPA recognizes that serious issues, out of the attendee’s control, may arise and could prevent an attendee from cancelling their registration by the cancellation deadline. Please contact PPA within one week of the final date of the conference if you have any questions about your cancellation.
Continuing Education Credits The Fall 2025 Virtual Continuing Education Conference is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. PPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Workshops that qualify for the ethics requirement as mandated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology are noted in the workshop descriptions. Certificates of Completion will be available online to participants who attend the entire workshop and complete the evaluation form. Partial credits will not be given. PPA's Act 31 program is approved by the Department of Human Services (formerly the Department of Public Welfare) and the Department of State to offer the 2 continuing education credits needed to fulfill the child abuse requirement. PA CE Provider Number: CACE000007 IMPORTANT REMINDER! A participant may arrive no more than 10 minutes late nor leave more than 10 minutes early to receive credit for a program. There will be no exceptions. Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors in Pennsylvania can receive continuing education from continuing education providers approved by the American Psychological Association. Since the Pennsylvania Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education, licensed social workers, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed professional counselors will be able to fulfill their continuing education requirement by attending PPA continuing education programs. Credits Offered The number of Continuing Education Credits for each workshop are listed in the schedule above. Sessions are worth 2 or 3 credits. If a workshop is not eligible for credit, it will be listed as such.
