PPA Advocacy Day - Monday, September 24, 2018

PPA members are invited to attend PPA's Annual Advocacy Day at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg!The schedule and agenda will be posted soon. This is your chance to influence the process of deciding aspects of how psychology is practiced in Pennsylvania. No room for social loafers here!
PPA staff will brief participants on current legislative issues of importance to psychologist on the state level, telepsychology, mental health parity, bills related to interpersonal violence, and relay tips on the legislative process. In addition, PPA staff will highlight current federal legislation, that impact the practice of psychology on the national level.
Please note that those who attend the advocacy training session will receive 1.5 CE credits.
8:45 am to 9:15 am: Registration
9:15 am to 10:45 am: Training session
11:00 am: Individual/Group Legislative visits will be scheduled between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm*
Each registrant will participate in 4 legislative visits during this time frame, please plan on staying the entire time.
1:00 pm: Human Trafficking Press Conference in the Main Rotunda
*Scheduled visit times will be set up by PPA. Schedules are determined by availability of legislators/staff. You will receive your schedule on-site at Advocacy Day. Meetings will be scheduled with key committee members, as well as, your own representatives.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to describe:
A. State issues which impact the practice of psychology;
B. Federal issues which impact the practice of psychology and
C. The legislative process
D. Effective forms of advocacy for psychologists
After the training session, you will be asked to visit with your legislators to discuss these issues. PPA will work to set up these legislative visits for you. Need to find out who your legislators are, or have other questions? Please contact Rachael Baturin at 717-510-6340 or rachael@papsy.org.
The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education credits for psychologists. PPA maintains responsibility for all their CE programs and their content. No presenters have any conflicts or potential conflicts of interest.
Cancellation Policy
All workshop registration cancellation requests must be made in writing to Iva Brimmer, Director of Administration (iva@papsy.org) - no phone cancellations will be accepted. Cancellation requests made more than 72 hours before the workshop will result in a 50% refund of the registration fee. PPA cannot postpone registrations and/or transfer fees to future events.
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the workshop and no shows for the Convention will result in forfeiture of the entire registration fee.
PPA recognizes that serious issues, out of the attendee’s control, may arise and could prevent an attendee from cancelling their registration by the cancellation deadline. Please contact PPA within one week of the final date of the conference if you have any questions about your cancellation.
